WITHIN BUDGET, TO THE SPECS.

In 1999, the Catalina Island Conservancy selected Southwest Fence and Supply Company as the designer and contractor for a challenging assignment. They needed to construct complete barrier fencing to control wild pigs, bison and deer on the island. Southwest enhanced the original specifications and was given the assignment.

The Catalina Island project encompasses fifteen miles of five foot hog wire fencing -- with predator wire at the ground and topped by two barbed wire strands -- plus a two mile eight foot high deer fence enclosure.

Designed to provide complete long-term control of deer and wild pigs, the fencing spans Catalina Island in two separate stretches with numerous gates and several cattle guards to facilitate human access. Extending literally from the ocean's edge to the highest point of the island, the fence was constructed over steep and rocky terrain, through dense chaparral, and into deep gulches.

Commissioned by the non-profit Santa Catalina Island Conservancy, this project was completed on time, within budget, and to the agreed upon specifications.
